How do I know if my child needs glasses?
Children don’t always tell you when they’re having trouble seeing. Quite simply because they often don’t realise the world could look sharper.
There are, however, a few signs you can look out for as a parent. Your child may sit unusually close to a screen, squint frequently, complain of headaches or have difficulty concentrating. If reading takes a lot of effort or your child struggles to see the board at school, it may also be a good idea to have their eyes checked.

What happens if my child doesn’t wear their glasses?
Good vision is important for learning, playing and discovering the world. When a child needs glasses but doesn’t wear them, everyday activities can become unnecessarily difficult.
Depending on the vision problem, wearing the right glasses can also be important for healthy visual development.
That’s why you don’t have to wait until your child tells you something is wrong. If you’re unsure, an eye examination can quickly provide clarity.
What should I look for when choosing glasses for my child?
Children’s glasses need to withstand a few bumps and knocks. But just as importantly, your child should actually enjoy wearing them.
Look for a frame that fits well, feels comfortable and doesn’t constantly slip down. Choose durable materials that can keep up with an active child, and lenses tailored to your child’s specific needs.
And then, of course, there’s the most important test of all: does your child actually like their glasses?
